Qazigund: Feb 07, An avalanche of snow were reported from Kund valley of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.
Reports said that snow avalanche hit Waltango and Nageenpora village of Kund Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district in which 60 families from Waltango and 20-30 families from Nageenpora were already shifted to residing houses of neighbors.
Executive Magistrate of the tehsil Qazigund, Bhat Altaf confirmed to Sachnews that no loss of human life has taken place so far. He said that authorities have also sought help from locals for the rescue operation.
Earlier, “On the basis of information from SASE, State Disaster Management Authority issued a fresh high danger avalanche warning for the next 24 hours in avalanche prone areas of Bandipora, Baramulla, Islamabad, Kulgam, Budgam, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts of Kashmir Division.
The Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts have been asked to advise people not to venture out in avalanche prone areas during the period. Besides, the DCs have also been asked to take precautionary measures and to keep the SDRF, Police, para-medical staff with ambulances in readiness to avert any untoward incident.
