ARMY PAYS TRIBUTE TO ITS VALIANT MARTYR

Srinagar, 25 Feb 2019.      Army today, paid a befitting tribute to Late Naib Subedar Sombir Singh  who made the supreme sacrifice during Counter Terrorist operation on 24th February 2019 at Village Turigam  of Kulgam District, wherein three terrorists were eliminated. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.

Late Naib Subedar Sombir Singh , sustained bullet injuries during a fierce operation at Village Turigam  of Kulgam District. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The martyr, Late Naib Subedar Sombir Singh , was 37 years old and had joined the Army in 2001. He belonged to Village Mithi of Siwani Tehsil in District Bhiwani, Haryana and is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

The mortal remains of the martyr were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
