Better Sense Should Prevail: Imran Khan Amid India-Pak Tensions
In a joint press briefing on Wednesday, 27 February, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Air Force said that India lost one MiG-21 and shot down a Pakistan fighter aircraft. The ministry confirmed that one IAF pilot was missing in action and that they were ascertaining Pakistan’s claims that he is in their custody.
Soon after the briefing, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the media and invited India for dialogue, stating that “things might get out of control”, if the situation escalates from here.
Pakistan had earlier claimed that it shot down two Indian military aircraft over the Pakistani air space and arrested two of the pilots.
Earlier in the day, Pakistani fighter jets violated Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Nowshera sectors, but were pushed back by Indian aircraft, dropping bombs while returning, officials cited by PTI said.
