JKLF protests against arrests, repeated NIA summons to Mirwaiz
Srinagar, Mar 15: “Detention of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin and others under draconian PSA and bullying Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Syed Naseem Geelani and others by NIA are all manifestation of state-sponsored violence. The Kashmiri nation cannot be intimidated by such mean tactics,” said the vice chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi while addressing protesters at Abi Guzar here on Friday.
He also said that the carnage at New Zealand has once again exhibited the ugly face of extremism and casteism and putting an immediate end to it is the need of the hour.
Our hearts go to the families that have lost their loved ones in this act of savagery, Bakhshi said.
According to a JKLF statement issued to KPS, party leaders and activists along with people from different walks of life gathered at Abi Guzar Lal Chowk and staged a peaceful protest against “bullying of Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq, Syed Naseem Geelani and many others by NIA, slapping of draconian PSA on JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, vice president of Jamiat Ahli Hadees Moulvi Mushtaq Veeri, spokesman of Jamat-e-Islami advocate Zahid Ali and hundreds of others”.
The protest was also held against the terrorist attack on worshiping Muslims in New Zealand in which nearly 50 people were gunned down and many more injured by the “enemies of humanity”, the statement said.
The JKLF leader said the crackdown against political leaders, religious scholars and Ulema, employees and others has turned the situation extremely volatile and vulnerable.
“India wants to intimidate resistance leadership by such mean tactics and all these oppressive measures are actually meant to defeat people’s revolution in Jammu Kashmir,” he said.
