RED Cross Participates In Swachh Bharat Abhiyan At Baramulla
Baramulla: District Administration Baramulla in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State Branch launched a special 02 days Cleanliness Drive as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on Saturday i.e.16-03-2019 at Jehlum River Bank, Gulnar Park Near Azad Gunj, Baramulla from 0930 hrs onwards. Deputy Commissioner, Dr. G.N. Itoo flagged off the programme in presence of other District officials. Around 50 Red Cross volunteers and staff took part in this initiative and cleaned the Jehlum River Bank and the adjoining area. While speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the IRCS-J&K State Branch for such enthusiastic participation from volunteers/staff from District Baramulla. He further said that this initiative would be taken up in a focused fashion to cover other areas under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in a phased manner in Baramulla District.
M.S. Rather, General Secretary, IRCS J&K State Branch, lauded the efforts of the district administration for initiating the special cleanliness drive and appreciated the efforts of the volunteers for their continued support towards social awareness, hygiene promotion and sanitation in their communities. Rather added that such activities would continue in future with collaboration of the District administration under its flagship programme ‘Social & Emergency Response Volunteer’ (SERV).
