Jammu and Kashmir senior police officer Imtiyaz Hussain on Thursday, 21 March, tweeted that he was receiving death threats from people who were behind the killing of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari.
Bukhari was shot dead by militants when he came out of his office in Press Enclave and was boarding his car in June. Two of his security guards were also killed in the incident.
Imtiyaz added that these people are not only claiming to be journalists but are building an environment on social media to “get him killed.”
He also tweeted that while he is not afraid of being killed in line of duty, the perception being created against him is “slanderous.”
There are some well known people hyperactive on Facebook and Twitter who are building an environment to get me killed. These people claiming to be journalists aren’t apparently working with any media house.

Having been never afraid of death and it would be honour to get sacrificed in the line of duty but the perception being created against me is slanderous. I am one among very few police officers active on social media and being forthright and calling a spade a spade.

‘They Want to Silence Me’
The senior police officer also added that these ‘journalists’ have been employed to target him, and silence him on social media. He added that these people were also taking advantage of India’s liberal democracy.

‘Entire Police Force Behind You’
Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP Sesh Paul Vaid responded to Imtiyaz saying that he was a “fine, bold officer with high integrity” and that the entire police force was behind him. (The Qunt)
