B’desh: 15 Rohingyas die as boat capsizes in Bay of Bengal

Dhaka, Feb 11 (UNI) A Malaysia-bound passenger trawler capsized on Tuesday around seven kilometres away from the west of Saint Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal around.
According to the St Martin Coast Guard commander lieutenant Naimul Haque, the incident occurred around 0700 hrs (local time)on Tuesday after hitting a stone in the sea.

He said that as many as 65 people were rescued while 15 bodies were recovered so far.
Of the deceased, 11 were Rohingya women and two children, most of them used to live in different Rohingya camps of Cox’s Bazar, he further said.
He stated that two trawlers started journey from Teknaf coast for Malaysia on Monday night.
Several survivors said they were going to Malaysia through middlemen.
The rescue work was underway till filing this report.
