Mehbooba congratulates Kejriwal for AAP’s victory in Delhi Assembly polls
Srinagar, Feb 11 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday congratulated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal for his party’s victory in Delhi Assembly elections and ‘electorates for voting on real issues’.
“On behalf of Ms Mufti, I’d like to congratulate @ArvindKejriwal for his spectacular victory & especially Dilliwallahs for rejecting vitriolic divisive politics & voting on real issues instead,” Ms Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti wrote on the twitter handle of her mother. Miss Iltija is handling the official twitter of Ms Mehbooba, who was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) last week.
Referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment targeting Shaheen Bagh protest, she said, “Those exhorting Dilliwallahs to send a current got electrocuted themselves & that too at high voltage.”
Mr Shah had in a rally asked Delhi voters to press the button of EVMs in their favour in the assembly elections so that the current straight away goes to Shaheen Bagh, where women are protesting against CAA and NRC.
AAP is all set to form the government in Delhi for the third term as the Kejriwal-led party looks likely to win a sweeping 60-plus seats — marginally short of the 67 seats it won in 2015. Meanwhile, the BJP, which was confident of bagging 55 seats, might end up with less than 10, an outcome many opposition parties have hailed as a defeat of ‘divisive politics’. (UNI)
