Train service resumes after day-long suspension due to security reasons
Srinagar, Feb 12 : Train service was on Wednesday resumed after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in Kashmir valley.
A railway official told UNI that trains are running normally on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region track.
Similarly, he said train service has been restored on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir track.
Train service was on Tuesday suspended for security reasons in Kashmir valley, where life was affected due to strike on the 36th death anniversary of JKLF founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, who was hanged and later buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984.
After August 5, when centre scrapped Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs), train service remained suspended for security reasons for about 100 days.
Train service has become very popular in Kashmir valley as it is economical, safe and fast against other mode of transport available to people.
