Asks Lt. Governor to show sensitive approach towards apple industry
Srinagar 13 Feb 2020: Former minister and senior vice president Peoples Conference Abdul Gani Vakil today said the government compensation to apple orchardists is a cruel joke and humiliation to the people from this Industry.
In a statement issued here today, Vakil said the compensation of a meagre amount of RS 1500 per kanal is a joke and shows the insensitive approach of the govt towards the apple industry.
He stressed upon the Lt Governor GC Murmu to take note of the serious issue and provide adequate competition to the sufferers.
Vakil said the Jammu and Kashmir govt had declareds the untimely snowfall which led to large-scale orchards and crops damage across Kashmir, as a calamity. He asked the govt to carve a path for “enhanced compensation” to the affected farmers.
