Anti-encroachment drive: Miscreants pelt stones on demolition team

Budgam, Feb 22, : Police Saturday used tear smoke shells to disperse miscreants who attacked a demolition squad with stones in Soibugh area of Central Kasmir’s Budgam district.

  Official sources told Kashmir News Trust that Wild Life Department had received information that some people have encroached land belonging to the department and erected tin sheds there.

  A team led by Tehsildar Budgam Nusrat Aziz arrived in Soibugh area to assess the ground reality. A team from Wild Life Department also arrived on the spot and found tin shed being erected by some unknown people.

  As the team launched demolition drive, some miscreants pelted stones on them. There was chaos all around due to the attack. Police swung into action and fired tear-smoke shells to disperse miscreants.

  A police official while confirming the incident said that all the tin sheds erected illegally were removed from the state land. (KNT)
