Iranian are virtual winners of polls: SNSC Secy
Tehran, Feb 22 : Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani praised the huge voter turnout in the ongoing elections and said that the people who exercised their francise were the virtual winners.
‘Fortunately, the massive presence of the people once again disappointed the enemy,’ Mr Shamkhani told the media at a polling station in Tehran on Friday after casting his ballot.
‘The people’s participation conveys only one message – that the enemy cannot undermine their unity even through using psychological warfare and adversary media,’ he said as quoted by Tasnim News Agency.
‘Undoubtedly, the people are the real winner of the polls,’ the top security official further said.
Mr Shamkhani also hoped that the new lawmakers would try to address the people’s concerns and problems.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei also emphasised that participation in the election was a religious duty.
