Hideout busted, Smuggled items, illicit timber seized in Bhaderwah

'Machine dismantled, case registered'

Doda, Feb 23 : Forest Protection Force (FPF) on Sunday busted a hideout of smugglers and seized large quantity of illicit timber in Bhaderwah area of Doda district.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), acting on specific information, the sleuths of FPF raided in Chinar Mohalla Sawmill, the premises have been sealed and the machine dismantled.

Talking to KNO, district forest officer Chander Shekhar said following inputs regarding dump of illicit timber “we have successfully managed to bust the hideout of smugglers in the area.”

He said during the raid, the FPF have seized a huge catch of illicit sawn timber 10 numbers of deodar logs to the tune of 37.Cft approx.

“The parts of the machines, like wheels, belt and Chundi etc were seized. The confiscation proceedings have been initiated under Section 52 of Indian Forest Act,” he added.

Officer further said that our special priority is always on to save our forests from the smugglers, he said that drive will be continue against smugglers so that police will be able to put full stop on timber mafia—(KNO)
