SAMBA FEBRUARY 24: An awareness camp was today organized here at Panchayat Ghar, Ghagwal by Handicrafts Department Samba to generate awareness among local artisans and general public about the scope of Handicrafts Sector.
SDM Ghagwal, Ramkesh Sharma, Sarpanch and Panchs of the Panchayat, representatives of Cooperative Societies, trainees and officers and officials of Handicrafts Department were present on the occasion.
Assistant Director Handicrafts, Sonam Verma encouraged the people to enroll in craft training programmes of the department, which will in turn generate employment opportunities for them. She said people can set up cooperative societies after learning the crafts and reap the benefits of the schemes of the Government.
The SDM encouraged the people to learn the skills, especially bamboo craft and make it a source of livelihood.
Around 200 people attended the camp. Officials of Handicrafts Department held live demonstration of the calico printing craft. A ‘nukkad natak’ was also staged at the venue for awareness of the public.
