Delhi violence: Police disperse protestors who gheraoed Kejriwal’s residence
New Delhi, Feb 26 : A group of demonstrators, who gheraoed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence seeking action against those responsible for violence in the national capital, were dispersed by the Delhi police in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Police used water canon to disperse the people who were raising slogans ‘Kejriwal come out, talk to us’.
The protest was organised by Alumni Association of Jamia Millia Islamia (AAJMI) and Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC).
They appealed to the Chief Minister to take action against the perpetrators of violence in northeast district and to personally visit the affected areas with local MLAs to pacify the emerging situation.
They also urged Mr Kejriwal to inform the people about steps taken by the Delhi government and allow all rescue operations to reach hospitals from the affected areas.
Late last night, the Delhi Chief Minister had called an all party meeting with senior officers to review the situation and directed them to take necessary measures to restore peace.
He directed MLAs to conduct Peace Committee meetings in all Legislative Assemblies with people from all religions.
