Srinagar, Feb 26 : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband from him at Boulevard road in this summer capital.
A police spokesperson said a police party of Police Post Nehru Park, while on naka duty near Ghat No eight Boulevard road, apprehended one person who tried to avoid the police party suspiciously on Tuesday evening.
“During checking, police recovered 180 grams of charas like substance,” he said, adding the accused was identified as Mohammad Ayoub Baba, a resident of Ganzkhud Nawabazaar.
He said a case has been registered at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh and investigation has been initiated. “Srinagar Police is committed to continue its offensive against the drug peddlers. People of the area have hailed the prompt action of Police,” he added.
