Sensex slumps 1132.87 points

Mumbai,Feb 28: The equity market crashed 1132.87 points to 38612.79 in opening trade on Friday following slump in global equities amid COVID-19 scare.
This is the sixth consecutive session in which the market remained under pressure.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange dropped 333.40 points to 11,299.90.
The sensex register intra-day high and low at 39087.47 and 38551.54 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra-day high at 11384.80 points and low at 11269.80 points.
The sectoral indices that were responsible for the slump were metal, realty, telecom, utilities, finance and industrial.
Shares of Bajaj Finance dropped 6.05 per cent, Tech Mahindra 5 .16 per cent Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd 3.95 per cent.
In the BSE, 222 shares rose and 1,710 shares fell.
