Srinagar, Feb 29, Police Saturday arrested duo in Magam area and recovered dozens of bottles of cough syrup, Corex, and other drugs from them.
Police sources told Kashmir News Trust that duo identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Pandit and Muhammad Amin Dar were on way to Magam when a naka pary at Chek Kawosa stopped them and recovered 134 Corex bottles and other drugs from their possession. The cough syrup is used by youth as a replacement for alcohol.
There has been an increase in the consumption of non-alcoholic addictive substances in the recent past in Kashmir Valley.
The accused have been lodged at police station Magam. A senior police officer while confirming the arrest of duo said that they were luring youth to get addicted to drugs for their personal gains. “We have registered a case against them and more arrests in this regard are expected,” he said.
