Four new Coronavirus cases, takes total to 43

New Delhi, Mar 9 : Four new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported since yesterday – one each from Ernakulum, Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and from Jammu, taking the total number of cases which have tested positive for the deadly disease to 43.
Of them, three cases which were initially detected in Kerala, have since been discharged, leaving 40 active cases.
Of the five new cases reported from Kerala, three were family members with travel history to Italy and two of their relatives who came in contact with them. The family is reported to have visited relatives and attended a few functions and their contacts were being traced.
Meanwhile, 43 out of the 3,003 samples tested for COVID-19 samples have tested positive with 2,694 samples having returned negative results.
A total of 8,74,708 international passengers from 8,255 flights have been screened at airports till now with 1,921 passengers identified as symptomatic. Of them, 177 have been hospitalised while 33,599 passengers were under observation and 21,867 passengers have completed their observation period.
It was clarified by Special Secretary (Health) that the patient from Murshidabad, West Bengal tested negative for COVID-19 and hence, so far no death has been reported due to COVID-19 in the country, it was underlined.
The Government has once again appealed to the people that they should reveal clearly about their travel history and fill the details in self-declaration forms properly.

According to a press release, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan is “continuously monitoring and reviewing the status, actions taken and future preparedness of States”. Similarly, Secretary (HFW) was reviewing the situation with states/UTs on a regular basis.
The Health Ministry appealed to the people to observe the Do’s and Don’ts, coughing etiquette, hand-washing and to avoid large gatherings.
