For BJP, J&K is still a ‘State’; Party document with official stamp mentions Raina as JK State president

Kupwara, Mar 11 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems either reluctant or unaware’ to accept the central government’s August 5 decision as it continues to call J&K a State, which otherwise was bifurcated into two Union Territories last year.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a document by J&K BJP unit signed by the UT president, Ravinder Raina was issued on March 10, 2020. It has mentioned Raina as Jammu and Kashmir State President.

The document was also posted by the BJP on its verified Facebook page and other social media platforms. The document where Raina has been mentioned as JK State president is an indication that the party’s unit is ‘unwilling’ to accept the higher ups decision here.

As per –KNO, the document was shared to inform public about the new designations of leaders who were appointed by the party as Vice Presidents, Secretaries and General Secretaries. At least 19 people were appointed on the three posts with eight each appointed for the posts of Vice Presidents and Secretaries while three others have been appointed for the post of General Secretaries

Pertinently, the ruling BJP government in the centre trashed the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year and also bifurcated the erstwhile State into Union Territories.
