Covid-19: DC Budgam urges people avoid unnecessary visit to offices, hospitals, social gathering, travel

Stresses doctors paramedical staff to remain punctual

 

Budgam, March- 12: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Tariq Hussain Ganai today appealed public to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, government offices besides holding huge social gathering and travel through public transport when not required to as precautionary measures to contain spread of corona virus.
This was said by the DDC while addressing a press conference at Conference Hall Budgam. He said there is no need to panic as there no was confirmed case not only in the district but in Kashmir too, however, he urged people to follow proper hygiene and other medical guidelines to prevent spread of infection as the outbreak has been declared as pandemic by WHO.
The DDC reiterated that those residents having travel history have been quarantined and have no symptoms of the infection. Urging people to cooperate, the DDC said those who have recently arrived from the affected countries and are not on the surveillance must register themselves for surveillance for their safety and as well as others safety too. He said district administration has been working round the clock and has established a control room with phone numbers 01951- 256456-255237-255059 on which public can contact and seek any sought of help they require.
He said that all educational institution including, schools, colleges universities (Govt./Private) shall remain closed up to March-31 as a precautionary measure to avoid huge gathering. He also said that private tuition centers and religious institution shall also remain closed and strict action shall be taken against anyone violating the orders.
The DDC also gave strict instructions to all doctors and paramedical staff to remain punctual and attend their duties in letter and spirit. He said that any doctors or employee of health department found absent from his/her duty shall be strictly dealt with. During meeting pamphlets were distributed for the awareness generation for hand hygiene and preventive measures to contain spread of virus. He also instructed CMO and all BMOs to submit daily attendance of all doctors and paramedical staff by 10: 15 am religiously. The CMO was also instructed to transfer some of the doctors for dereliction of their duties.
Warning strict action against the rumor mongers the DDC said that anyone found spreading rumors and creating panic shall also be taken to the task.
