Plantation Drive cum Awareness Programme organised in Pahalgam

March 12, 2020:Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) in collaboration with Lidder Forest Division Range Pahalgam organised Plantation Drive Cum Awareness Programme on Plantation in Pahalgam today.

In this connection a grand function was organised in Pahalgam Club in which Experts and students from different schools spoke about the importance of plantation for a pollution free environment and for maintaining the ecological balance, besides a brief Skit regarding environment consciousness was presented by the students.
SDM Pahalgam, Syed Faheem welcomed the guests and presented the inaugural speech.

Chief Guest of the function ADDC Anantnag, Khawaja Nazir Ahmad while speaking on the occasion said that need of the hour is to be practical in saving the planet Earth from all sorts of pollution and damages. He said that every individual should play his role in keeping the environment clean so that we could save our natural resources for the future generation, besides, planting more and more trees. He added that government and general public have to work neck to neck in doing concrete measures for saving the environment to have a healthy and pollution free environment to live in. He asked the students to act as ambassadors to create mass awareness among their families regarding the importance of plants for the sustenance of the life. He assured all possible help to the PDA for making Pahalgam a world class tourist destination.
CEO Pahalgam Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone presented the vote of thanks and assured the participants that every possible effort will be done by the PDA to save the trees and to make Pahalgam pollution and plastic free tourist destination.
On the occasion, the students and officers were awarded with certificates and mementoes for their contribution in generating an awakening with regard to the importance of plantation among general public.
Among others present on the occasion include ADC Anantnag, Gh Hassan Sheikh, CEO PDA Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, ACR Anantnag Syed Yasir Kubravi, CEO Anantnag, SDPO Pahalgam,Range Officer ,Haji Mohd Altaf and other officers.
Later a Plantation Drive was also organised in which the students, Chief Guest and other dignitaries planted the saplings.
