RS polls: Cong nominates Tulsi from C’garh, Digvijaya from MP, Hooda from Haryana

New Delhi, Mar 12 : Congress on Thursday nominated noted lawyer K T S Tulsi to the Rajya Sabha from Chhattisgarh, while fielding senior party leader Digvijaya Singh from Madhya Pradesh, Deepender Singh Hooda from Haryana and Shaktisinh Gohil from Gujarat.
According to a statement by AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved the candidature of Tulsi and tribal leader Phulo Devi Netam for the Rajya Sabha election from Chhattisgarh, Shahzada Anwar from Jharkhand, Digvijaya Singh and Phool Singh Baraiya from Madhya Pradesh, Rajiv Satav from Maharashtra, Kenneddy Cornellus Khyiem from Meghalaya, KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi from Rajasthan, Shaktisinh Gohil and former GPCC chief Bharatsinh Solanki from Gujarat and Deepender Singh Hooda from Haryana.
Party leaders said that the Congress president had offered the Rajya Sabha seat to senior party leader Rajiv Shukla, but he said he wanted to focus on organisation work in the Congress and requested her to nominate some other Congress leader for the seat.
