PM Narendra Modi to address nation at 8 pm on coronavirus menace
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm Tuesday on the coronavirus situation in India. Making the announcement on Twitter, he said, “Will address the nation at 8 pm today, 24th March 2020, on vital aspects relating to the menace of COVID-19.” This will be his second address to the nation in the last seven days.
In his last address on March 19, PM Modi had called for the 14-hour ‘Janata Curfew’ and urged people to remain indoors as much as possible. He had also asked Indians to applaud health workers and other emergency personnel fighting the disease.
The number of active coronavirus cases in India rose to 446 Tuesday, with at least 10 casualties. As cases of the viral infection surged, authorities put nearly the entire country in lockdown, banning gatherings of people and suspending road, rail and air traffic till March 31.
