All 5 members positive’, family clueless how they became Covid-19 victims suddenly
Srinagar, April 09 (KINS): To their utter surprise, a family in Srinagar comprising five members has turned positive for the novel coronavirus without having any travel or contact history forcing the authorities to put them in immediate quarantine.
The family members, father, son, two daughters and their mother were tested positive Wednesday.
They are from Eidgah area of Srinagar’s old town. The entire family is shell-shocked as to how they caught the virus without travelling out of Srinagar and without coming into contact of any positive case of Covid.
Murtaza (name changed) said he and his father have been fighting hard to feed the family. “We are into the art of Khatamband ( a wood art) used to craft unique designs on a special kind of wood used for ceiling in residential houses, hotels, government offices and also in houseboats in Kashmir.
He told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that they have not been out of J&K, rather out of Srinagar and didn’t meet anyone who according to them could be the suspect of Covid-19.
“Yes, a 10-year-boy in our area was tested positive for Covid-19 but his house is very far from our house. And we didn’t go there at all,” the brother of two sisters, said in a chocked voice from the JLNM hospital where they have been admitted in the isolation ward.
He said the authorities took their samples and the results came on April 08 (Wednesday) with all the five members positive for the Covid-19, a deadly pandemic that has already claimed four lives in J&K and affected nearly 200 persons.
An official told KINS, a week ago, when the administration declared entire Eidgah as Red Zone after 10-year-old boy tested positive, many samples around the area were taken including five from this family.
“The results were shocking as all of them were positive,” he said.
Surprisingly, all the five family members are admitted along with other patients in the quarantine center and that they have no symptoms of Covid-19. “All of us are asymptomatic. None of us have any symptom. We are shocked to see our test results. It is indeed God’s wrath on the people across globe, may God save the humanity,” the brother, who is master in Khatamband art, said.
He is hoping against the hope that he and all his family members will recover from the disease soon and they would be allowed to go home.
