Er Nazir Yatoo asks govt to come to rescue of landslide hit families of Wangus Charar-e-Sharif
Srinagar, April 10 (PR): Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Ex VC JK Cements, Er Nazir Ahmad Yatoo on Friday expressed sorrow over the losses to property of the people in Wangas Nilnag area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district following landslides .
A statement issued here reads, PDP leader while expressing solidarity with the affected said, “many residential houses are on edge to suffer damages due to the landslides . The families are still staying put in the area putting their lives in danger. I urge the LG led administration and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam to shift the families to safer places until the entire area is not visited by geology and mining officials and other district officials for necessary evaluation.
Yatoo said that, the district administration should immediately depute teams to this (Wangus) village. The PDP leader observed that fear has gripped Wangus Nilnag village of Charar-e-Sharif after landslides hit the houses.
“I personally visited the area, a vast chunk of land is drifting in this village of Charar-e-Sharif ,” he said, while demanding immediate government action.
Yatoo also demanded free essential commodities to the families living under below poverity line. “The district administration Budgam should thoroughly evacuate all the families and shift them to a safer location, where they be provided with all basic edibles, blankets. There are various hamlets in this area which are prone to frequent landslides, the government should do a survey of such areas and come up with embankments, modifying lope geometry, installing structures such as retaining walls, and grouting rock. Social forestry and forest department should also chose such vulnerable areas and carry out plantation drives,” Yatoo said.
Meanwhile, Yatoo expressed solidarity with the affected families.
