Govt to take stern action against private hospitals for not providing basic facilities to patients
Handwara, Apr 14: As people celebrate public healthcare professionals for their ‘selfless’ work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Government Tuesday threatens private hospitals and Nursing Homes of strict action in case they fail to provide basic facilities to the patients.
A team of officials in Handwara led by Magistrate Ajaz Ahmed and Block Medical Officer, Abdul Majid inspected many private hospitals and Nursing Homes after complaints that these health centres are ill equipped with facilities.
The inspection team warned the owners of strict action in case they don’t equip their centres with basic facilities. The team also directed the owners to produce the registration certificates in three days.
“We will seal those hospitals and Nursing Homes, that fail to produce legal documents or equip their centres with proper facilities,” Magistrate Handwara Ajaz Ahmed told KNT.
Reports said that during the inspection of one of the Nursing Homes, the owner misbehaved with officials, a fact admitted by Block Medical Officer.
“It has been observed that some of the private hospitals are not providing basic facilities to the patients and are not cooperating with the administration administration to combat the pandemic of COVID-19, which is against the service conduct rules. Action will be initiated agains such hospitals,” he added. (KNT)
