Ensure proper functioning of non-Covid health institutions, Div Com to DCs

Srinagar, Apr 21: The district administrations in Kashmir valley have been directed to ensure proper functioning of non-COVID health institutes so that people do not face any difficulty in view of lockdown to curtail the spread of Coronavirus, officials said here on Tuesday.

The directions to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) were issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole.

He directed the DCs to ensure normal functioning in non-Covid hospitals, health centers, private hospitals, Dental and other private health institutions at the earliest so that non-Covid patients do not face any difficulty.

The DCs were asked to rope in Doctors Association for talk shows on district cable channels regarding mental stress, diabetes, fatigue, immunity boosting through home remedies especially during the month of Ramazan and other health related issues for the general public.

Mr Pole also directed DCs to coordinate with NGOs in their respective districts and facilitate them for hassle free distribution of essential among the needy.

The DCs were further directed to depute nodal officer with them, who will inventorise their distribution activities.

The Coronavirus cases in Kashmir valley has crossed the 300-mark with 14 more persons testing positive on Monday while the total number of infected people in the Union Territory of J&K has risen to 368. Restrictions on movement and assembly of people to curtail the spread of Coronavirus continued on Sunday in Kashmir valley, where authorities have reiterated that strict action would be taken against anyone who violates the lockdown that has been extended till May 3.

So far, the infection has claimed five lives in J&K while 71 COVID-19 positive patients have been treated successfully.
