Gas leak : AP CM reviews situation with top officials
Vijayawada, May 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the situation, arisen after the gas leak from the LG Polymers Chemical Plant in Visakhapatnam, with top officials at his camp office in Tadeaplli near here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister spoke with DGP Gautham Sawang, District Collector of Visakhapatnam and other officials.
He reviewed the steps being taken to provide medical treatment to the victims.
Mr Reddy enquired with the officials about the health condition of those who had been admitted to various hospitals.
The Chief Minister is leaving for Visakhapatnam to call on the victims admitted in the hospitals.
Meanwhile, Mr Gutham Sawang said that the police in Visakhapatnam received information about the gas leak incident through dail 100 in the early hours.
All the police personnel of police stations in the area and also Special forces were alerted and deployed at R R Venkatapuram to carry out rescue operations.
The DGP is monitoring the situation constantly and the Chief Minister is being apprised the situation, a statement from the DGP office said.
Atleast five people died and hundreds fell sick in the gas leak incident.
