Out of 15 civilians killed in Kashmir since January 6 were gunned down by suspected militants

Srinagar, May 7:  15 civilians have been killed in the first four months of current year. Among these 15 civilians 8 died in Pakistan shelling while 6 were gunned down by suspected militants.

The data available with Kashmir News Trust reveals that maximum civilian casualty occurred in the month of April and the number was 8. In January 2 civilians working as Army porters Muhammad Aslam, 28, son of Mohammad Sadeeq and Altaf Hussain, 23, son of Noor Din, both residents of Kasalian, Gulpur of Poonch were killed in cross border shelling.

In Pakistan shelling, a mna Muhammad Salim (61) of Dhani Sadpora village of Karnah Kupwara was killed while another man too lost life in Shahpur Sector of Poonch. Three civilians Zeeshan Bashir of Tumana village, Shameema Begum, of Reddi, Chowkibal and Javed Ahmed Khan of Reddi-Chowkibal were killed in cross border shelling in Tamuna Chowkibal Kupwara.

Those who became the prey of suspected militants include Ghulam Nabi Mir of Tral Payeen, auto-driver, Mehrajuddin Bhat son of Muhammad Akbar Bhat at Redwani Bala in Kulgam, Wasim Ahmed of Tarigam Kulgam,

Ghulam Hasan Wagay and Sirajuddin Gorsi of Redwani area of Kulgam, Muhammad Saleem Dar of Fathepora Larkipora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Suspected militants also gunned down a retired former army soldier Bashir Ahmed in Bachroo Kulgam. A civilian Muhammad Umar alias Hamzah Shafi of Khaipora Handwara allegedly became the prey of government forces at Wangam Qaziabad. (KNT)
