160 Kashmiri students stuck in Bangladesh land in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 8: Kashmiri students stuck in Bangladesh arrived in Srinagar on Friday. Official sources said that 160 stranded students arrived in Srinagar. They landed in a flight at Srinagar International Airport, screened and sent to administrative quarantine.
Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said that all the students who arrived in Srinagar are medical students while more students will be back to Valley in more flights next week.
“There are over 600 students stuck in Bangladesh. Government has decided to evacuate them without any delay,” said an official to KNT.
The students earlier made an attempt to return to the Valley but were sent back to Bangladesh from international passenger terminal Benapole Landport, Jashore due to suspension of all international and domestic flights in India.
Government spokesperson in a series of tweets said that the return of stranded people was picking up pace as nearly 2800 stranded people arrived yesterday via Lakhanpur.
He said that 3000 students, labourers, others from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Utrakhand, expected today. He informed that total number of returnees now is over 33000.
He further said that trains will be organized for people stranded at far off places. (KNT)
