Four arrested for printing, circulating fake currency in Bandipora

Five lakhs fake currency, printing materials recovered, case registered: SSP

Bandipora, May 09 : Four persons were arrested and booked on Saturday for circulating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and recovered five lakhs fake currency, and other printing materials in Bandipora.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bandipora, Rahul Malik while divulging the details, told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that after receiving specific inputs, Bandipora police arrested four persons identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone, Abdul Rashid Akhoon both residents of Bandipora and Shabir Ahamad Mir, Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh both the resident Kulgam district.

“They were involved in circulating and using Fake Indian currency notes as genuine in the different areas of Kashmir by mixing them with the original notes,” he said.

Acting swiftly, a police party of Police Station Bandipora swung into action and arrested all the four accused persons with the help of Kulgam Police.

He said the police team also seized five lakhs including 200, 500, 2000 fake currency notes, from their possession. Printing machine, papers, and paper cutting machine were also seized by the police.

SSP further stated that a case has been registered and stringent sections of UAPA act is added against the accused.

General public is requested to come forward with complaint if they notice any circulation of Fake currency notes—(KNO)
