J&K LG meeting sections of people but not to Congress, alleges Mir
Jammu, May 11 : Asserting that Congress party is ready to facilitate the return of stranded persons outside in different states, JKPCC Chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Sunday alleged that the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu is meeting all sections of people but not ready to meet the Congress leadership despite repeated requests.
“For the last few months, we have been trying to meet the LG and have extended several requests through different mediums but not yet received any response,” Mr Mir here said while addressing a press conference at party headquarters.
He said, “We have a roadmap and are ready to provide help, transportation and bear all expenses to facilitate the return of J&K residents stranded outside and also help the non local people to go back to their native places.”
“We want to appeal to the LG to direct his administration to issue permissions for the same and let thousands of people stuck in parts of the country come back and those stranded here, shall be allowed to move,” said Mr Mir.
He also alleged that there is no coordination at Divisional and District Administration level due to which people are facing difficulties and added, “no elections are round the corner, there is no question of vote bank at this time rather we should work collectively in fighting against Corona Virus but the government is not agreeing to listen our proposals.”
Mr Mir further said that UT administration is totally mishandling the issue of stranded people including labourers, students and others as a result the people of different categories have already undergone tremendous hardships and are still running from pillar to post to seek permissions, as per repeated announcement and guidelines of the government.
He took exceptions to the ‘uncalled for and avoidable hardships’ being faced by different categories of stranded people due to the ‘mismanagement and mishandling of the administration at different levels’.
‘An unsympathetic and non responsive system has added to the woes of the people, especially the poor and hapless sections particularly those stranded at different places,’ he added and further said, “all people barring few, mainly privileged ones, have voluntarily obeyed the lockdown and the advisories of the Govt of India and the UT administration from time to time.”
“The minor violations are very minimal and sometimes due to the confusion, due to fast changing guidelines of the govt but those privileged ones who have done major violations are near the corridors of power,” he added.
Mr Mir said that the stranded people have little access to the bureaucratic system which does not respond to the repeated requests by them, while the labourers mostly are unable to access the tedious system for permissions, under present circumstances of the situation.
“The government should immediately simplify and streamline the system for their easy approach and early permissions,” he added.
