Weather warning for Isolated TS, lightening, gusty winds extended till June 3 in J&K

Srinagar, May 30: Weather warning for Isolated Thunderstorm (TS), lightening, hail and gusty winds has been extended for next four days in the Jammu and Kashmir by the India Metrological Department (IMD) on Saturday.

However, there is no such warning for Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh while weather will remain mainly dry, barring isolated rain today and tomorrow.

Mirpur in Pakistan Adminstate Kashmir (PaK) was hottest with 40 degree maximum and 26 degree minimum temperature, highest in the region during the past 24 hours.

A IMD spokesman said here today that widespread light to moderate rain or thunders could occur in the UT J&K and isolated light rain in UT Ladakh during the next 24 hours. He further forecasted for fairly widespread light rain or thundershowers during the subsequent 48 hours.

Extending warning spokesman said that there could be Isolated TS, Lightening, Hail and 30 km to 40 kmph guty winds in Kashmir and Jammu till June 3. Earlier, similar warning was issued till May 31, he said adding there is no such warning for Ladakh region.

He said Mirpur in PaK witnessed warm night after the minimum temperature was 26 degree, highest in the entire region of J&K, Ladakh and PaK. Mirpur also recorded highest 40 degree maximum temperature on Friday, he said.

This was followed by Jammu where the maximum temperature was 37.3 degree and minimum temperature 25.3 degree with traces of rain, he said.

Katra, base camp of Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrimage recorded 34.3 degree maximum and 22.2 minimum temperature, he said, adding this was followed by Gilgit (PaK) 33 degree maximum and 15 degree minimum temperature.

World famous ski resort of Gulmarg witnessed pleasant weather after the maximum temperature was 16.2 degree, lowest in the region and minimum 6.5 degree after 1.2 mm rainfall. However, famed health resort of Pahalgam, where 19.8 mm rainfall was received during the past 24 hours till 0830 hrs, the maximum temperature was 21.8 degree and the minimum temperature was 5.8 degree.

Muzaffarabad, capital of PaK, received 4.5 mm rainfall till 0830 hrs and the maximum and minimum temperatures were 26.1 degree and 12.5 degree during the past 24 hours.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the UT J&K recorded 24.9 degree maximum and 11.2 degree maximum temperature with sun playing hide and seek during the past 24 hours.
