Ganderbal, July 13: People can finally now found the address of Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA). From past two years, its office in picturesque Sonmarg was closed. Today SDA re-opened its office at Sonmarg after a gap of 3 years.
Sonamarg Development Authority has been set up to take care of the tourist destination. It is headed by Chief Executive Officer. In absence of any office, shopkeepers and tourist players were facing hardships.
SDA had shifted its winter office to Mani Secretariat Ganderbal in 2017 and since then it had permanently closed its office in Sonmarg.
“We are quite happy that SDA has finally re-opened its office in Sonmarg and now it has a proper address,” said a shopkeeper to news agency KNT.
Sonamarg hosts a major base camp for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage via the Baltal route gaining popularity with the pilgrims who prefer the shorter route to the much longer one via Pahalgam. The Sonamarg Development Authority was formed in 2003 for planned development of the tourist resort.
