Cafeteria, part of Tourist Reception Centre gutted in fire
Locals assist police in dousing the flames
Anantnag, July 14: The cafeteria attached to Tourist Reception Centre here in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was gutted in a mysterious fire incident. Prima facie, the cause of fire is attributed to short-circuit, because when flames started emanating from the cafeteria, ‘Chowkidar’ was present there who has reportedly informed police that nobody was around during the incident.
The incident occurred at Chini Wudur area of Sri Gufwara.
Sources told news agency KNT that besides police and men from Fire and Emergency Department, locals also helped in dousing the flames. The cafeteria gutted in the incident, however, the structures around it were saved.
“It is wrong to blame locals for the incident. It is painful to see some vested interest media outlets blaming locals without ascertaining facts,” said Irshad Ahmed, a local.
A Police official told KNT that a case has been registered in this regard. “Chowkidar was present in the building when fire incident occurred. Even locals helped us in putting out the fire. Only Cafeteria has been gutted while rest of the buildings are safe,” the official said adding that it is unfair to blame anyone for the incident without investigation. (KNT)
