Social distancing goes for a toss at Tehsil Office Hajin

Srinagar, July 21: Officials at Tehsil Office Hajin are failing to persuade visitors to maintain social distancing norms though the same officials in markets and other places impose fine on people for not following SOP’s.

Eyewitnesses told news agency KNT that hundreds of people can be seen visiting Tehsil Office Hajin here in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district to get their works done. Majority of the visitors can be seen without masks and mingling with each other.

The officials at Tehsil Office neither direct these visitors to wear masks and maintain social distancing nor do they take any action.

“The same officials initiate action against the violators whenever they visit the market. They impose fine on shopkeepers and people but fail to take care of their own house (Tehsil Office),” said a local.

Another local said that Tehsil employees should set an example by using masks and maintaining social distancing themselves.

When contacted, Tehsildar, Ghulam Muhammad Bhat said they are trying their best to follow SOP’s and making people aware about the implications of Covdid infection. (KNT)
