Srinagar, Aug 25: One of the premiere health care institutes in Kashmir valley, Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has been in the news these days after the media highlighted how the authorities appointed nearly two dozen doctors as Senior Residents for various departments without holding the mandatory interview.
Aggrieved candidates told the media that the SKIMS management has done a fraud under the pretext of Coronavirus, as the selected candidates are specialists and not junior residents who are meant to help postgraduate students and not actively be involved in Corona duties.
According to media reports, some of the dropped candidates have now knocked the doors of Raj Bhawan to seek the intervention of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The dropped doctors have written a letter to LG Sinha to personally look into the matter. The aggrieved dropped candidates alleged that they applied for the post of Senior Residents, which were supposed to be interviewed and then ratified by the Designated Selection Committee constituted for the purpose. “Everything was bypassed by the SKIMS management, doing great injustice with us,” an agitated dropped candidate said while reported by a Jammu based English daily.
“A candidate was selected by the management without following proper procedure and that the selection result was issued simultaneously with the result list, creating the impression that the management of the institute had information who had passed, which is a sheer injustice,” another dropped candidate lamented.
He added : “That none of us or even from other Departments were called for interview and simultaneous ratification by the Designated Selection Committee, which is against the basis of our constitution of Right to equality in terms of employment and a brazen violation of Article 14 as enshrined in our constitution.”
Now the dropped candidates have requested the government that the wrong should be corrected by rescinding the list Abinto and undo the injustice done by the vested interests at the institution and also take necessary measures for making the process transparent so that the rights of nobody are trampled and Spirit of our constitution is held high.
