Bar refuses to revoke suspension order of Babar Qadri
‘Don’t force me to file a writ petition’
Srinagar, Sep 2: President ‘Lawyers Club of Kashmir’ Advocate Babar Qadri Wednesday castigated Kashmir Bar Association for refusing to revoke his suspension.
Qadri said he sincerely wish to join Kashmir Bar Association as unity is the need of the hour. He said he was aghast when some Bar members informed him that his suspension from Bar can’t be revoked by incumbent president Advocate Mian Qayoom as it can be done only by the new elected body.
“When I formed a ‘Lawyers Club’, I was accused of dancing on the tunes of Indian Agencies and now when I work for unity and want to join, the passage is blocked for me,” Qadri told news agency KNT.
“On the advice of my friends at Bar, i finally submitted application for revocation of my suspension as the suspension wasn’t done on any merit and formal order. After the release of Bar president, i believed that he would have given up all the animosity but it proved otherwise today, knowing the fact Lawyers need unity for welfare of Bar,” Advocate Babar Qadri said.
“I want to inform my fraternity not to accuse me of any consequences that will follow in case I am forced to file the writ petition before the High court as it can lead to questioning the legality of the Bar Assocation and even questioning it’s Constitution,” he said and appealed Advocate Mian Qayoom not to force him to be a tool for locking down the Bar Association.
