Srinagar: The scandal of alleged misappropriation of crores of rupees from the exchequer by the officials of Soura Medical Institute during the Coronavirus pandemic to get commission is coming to light.

The director of the institute and the members of the Purchase Committee have issued a manual quotation for the purchase of N95 masks worth crores of rupees.

According to the documents obtained by KPS, on March 23, 2020, a manual rate quotation under SIMS-325 COVID19-2020-2047-54 was conducted by Engineering M / s Al-Haram.

SKIMS ordered one lakh N95 face masks to the company & according to the order, the company had to provide one lakh face masks at the rate of Rs. 250 per mask to the institute which is roughly an amount of Rs.2.5 lakh.

Hospital sources told the Kashmir Press Service that it is a gross violation of rules and regulations to provide a manual station for a hefty sum of Rs 2.5 crore and such a large amount.

He said that the director of the institute or any other official has no mandate to provide manual quotation. He said that the director of the hospital and members of the purchase committee had allegedly received huge commissions from a company called Al-Haram Engineering.

The source further said that the company which was given the order under the name of Al-Haram Engineering also had several credentials. It is doubtful that in the supply order issued in the name of the said company on 23/03/2020, its address has been shown as Elahi Bagh, Srinagar, while on April 29, the same another supply order issued for the supply of beds in the name of the company has shown the address of the company as Ismail Complex, Chota Bazar Srinagar.

The director of Soura Medical Institute and other senior officials have repeatedly flouted the rules and regulations in order to benefit their relatives and well-wishers. There is growing resentment in the circles towards the management of Soura Medical Institute and people are being demanded to stop the alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of public money by the hospital.

The damage should be investigated so that this important public institution can be saved from disaster.

It is noteworthy that Soura Medical Institute has been in the news for various reasons since the inception of the Coronavirus.

The administration here has been accused of neglecting the treatment of crying patients and blaming the hospital for the increasing number of crying patients.

The KPS has been publishing reports on SKIMS for the past few days, which clearly and unequivocally reveal that there is disorder in the Medical Institute like “nepotism:. Scandals have become the norm and the government should take stern notice of these things and launch a high-level investigation to save this well-known medical institution in the valley.
