RPO organizing 4 day camp for passport seekers of Ladakh region from Nov 19

Srinagar, Nov 17: Regional Passport Office (RPO) is conducting a special four day long camp for the passport seekers of Ladakh region from 19 November to 22 November.

Regional Passport Officer Kashmir and Ladakh, Brij Bhushan Nagar told news agency Kashmir Dot Com- (KDC), that it was a long pending demand of the people from the region to organize such a camp, in view of the local passport office standing closed.

He said,” Since passport aspirants were suffering on account of the closure of the local passport office in Leh, we had written to the External Affairs Ministry to grant us a permission to organize the camp for the convenience of the regional people, which was duly granted.”

“Apart from issuing normal passports to the people, it had become imperative also because for Haj 2021 aspirants, it would have been quite difficult to travel to Srinagar in person to seek the passport,” he added.

Bri Bhushan Nagar further said that some members of the National Ice Hockey team from the region, likely to participate in upcoming international sports events are also in need of a passport, which will benefit from the camp.

“It will be a unique exercise from the RPO to conduct such a camp in sub-zero temperature.” Bhushan said.

He said, “Aspirants can submit their applications online, while a team headed by RPO will be present there to dispose of the cases within a short span of time.”

He requested the people of the region to take the benefit of the camp adding that, whoever is desirous of seeking a travel document may avail the facility for the purpose. (KDC)
