Death of young journalist Muddasir Ali widely condoled
LG, Abdullah’s, Mehbooba and others express grief
Srinagar: People of all walks of life have expressed shock over the untimely death of young journalist Muddasir Ali, who could not survive a massive heart attack on Friday morning and breathed his last at his residence in Chrar e Sharif Budgam.
While the death of the promising journalist Muddasir has been mourned by the media community at large, who thronged his hometown to be part of his Namaz e Jannaza, people from different walks of life have expressed grief over his death and condolences with the bereaved family.
37-year old Muddasir was working as senior editor in Srinagar based English daily ‘Greater Kashmir’ and was also contributing to ‘The Wire’, a national online portal.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in his condolence message said that he was deeply shocked over the untimely death of Mudasir Ali.
Issuing a press release to news agency KDC, Sinha said, “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of young journalist Mudasir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends & colleagues.”
Taking on to micro blogging site twitter, government spokesman Rohit Kansal wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear of the unfortunate and distressing news of the untimely demise of young journalist Mudassir Ali. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
Director Information and Employees Forum DIPR JK also condoled the sudden death of the journalist.
Meanwhile National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Vice President Omar Abdullah and other party leaders expressed their grief over the sudden demise of the senior journalist.
According to the party statement they prayed for the strength of the bereaved family to bear the loss and peace to departed journalist.
NC Vice President and the former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah in a tweet said, “It was a terrible shock to hear of the untimely death of Mudassir Ali.”
Omar said, “He had a bright career as a journalist ahead of him & the fact that he died so young makes his passing even more difficult to comprehend. May Allah grant him Jannat & his family strength at the difficult time,” he said, adding, “I’ve been interviewed by Mudassir a number of times & tried to dodge his tough questions at numerous press conferences. He was a tenacious reporter, always polite but never easy to fob off. He will be sorely missed. God speed Mudassir.”
Meanwhile another former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti in her tweet said that she finds the passing away of Mudassir hard to believe
Mehbooba Mufti said, “Saddened to know of Mudasir Ali’s sudden demise. Have known him for years & he was a great person. Still find it hard to believe. May Allah give strength to his family to bear this loss.”
Former minister and Peoples Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone said, “Mudasir Ali was a very talented journalist at the Greater Kashmir. Had sat with him so many times. Hard to believe he is no more. But that is life. My commiserations. May Allah grant him Jannat.”
CPI (M) State General Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, while expressing deep shock and grief over the tragic and sudden death of Muddasir Ali termed his demise as an irreparable loss.
Tarigami in a party statement said, “He was a veteran journalist. The contribution made by him in the field of journalism will always be remembered. In his death, we have lost a great asset and the vacuum left by his passing away in the media fraternity would be difficult to fill.”
Javaid Mustafa Mir President Jammu Kashmir People’s Movement and former minister said in his tweet, “The sudden demise of Mudasir Ali was disheartening for me. My condolences may Allah grant him jannah ‘Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un’.”
Ghulam Hassan Mir former minister and senior vice president Apni Party condoled the demise of Muddasir Ali.
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, as per the statement issued by the party.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Choudhary in a tweet expressed his grief thus, “Unbelievable. I am completely shocked to know of Mudassir Ali’s passing away by cardiac arrest. A promising journalist and fine human being left us so soon. May his soul rest in eternal peace.” (KDC)
