Bandipora, Nov 25: Residents of Gadakhod Gamdoo village in North kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday complained of acute shortage of drinking water in their area from past two months.
While blaming the authorities for failing to ensure drinking water supply in their area, some locals said: “In order to bring the issue in the notice of the authorities, we have approached the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department several times but nothing was done to solve the scarcity of water in our area.”
A local Mohd Ashraf said that ,”on one hand the government is making tall claims of providing proper facilities to people in winter and on the other hand the PHE department has failed to provide drinking water to the people of Gadakhod village.
“Our mothers are being forced to fetch drinking water from wells and paddy fields because the water is polluted, which is seriously affecting the health of children and the elderly,” said Mehboob Butt, a local.
They appealed Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter and address their legitimate demand at an earliest.
