Ganderbal Police seizes illicit liquor, five arrested

Ganderbal, Dec 27: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested five persons along with 20 bottles of illicit liquor during a routine naka checking in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A police official told news agency KDC that during naka checking near CRPF 118BN head quarters Gund, here intercepted five persons who were trying to hide consignment of 20 bottles of illicit liquor from the Police party for checking.

He said “During search 20 quarters (kashmir XXX RUM & Olde Adventurer Rum 750ml each) were recovered from the possession of five persons. They were identified as Mohammad Safdar Sheikh Son of Roshan Din Sheikh resident of Nowshera, Ashok Kumar Patra Son of Kishna Patra, resident of Odisha, Ranjeet Kumar Son of Hem Raj, Samroli resident of Udhampur, Waseem Ahmad Son of Mohd Sharief Wani resident of Ramsu Ramban, Rahul Gupta Son of Rajmadi Gupta resident of MP Bumra, he said.

In this connection he said all the accused persons were arrested and police have registered a case under FIR NO. 78/2020 U/S 48(1) Excise Act at Police Station Gund and further investigation is underway, he said. (KDC)
