Bhim Singh urges President to restore statehood of J&K with its security cover
Jammu (PR): Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party urged Shri Ramnath Kovind, the President of India to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir which was founded in 1846 by Dogra Maharaja Gulab Singh. He reminded the countrymen that J&K was one of the oldest states of India and it continued as a state of J&K even after 575 states had been merged into the Union of India when the Republic of India was declared on January 26, 1950. NPP Supremo reminded the Parliament of India that J&K was allowed to retain its statehood till 1952 though Maharaja Hari Singh had merged the state on October 26, 1947.
Panthers Party Founder expressed shock that J&K was converted into Union Territory on August 5, 2019 which was totally unconstitutional, undesirable and demonstrated dire discrimination against the residents of J&K who had graciously accepted J&K’s accession with Union of India in 1947. Prof.Bhim Singh said that this was discrimination by the Parliament of India to reduce the status of J&K from statehood to a Union Territory. He also appealed to the Parliament of India which is opening this month to restore the status of J&K and hold Assembly elections without any delay after restoring the statehood.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that the Panthers Party shall file a writ petition in the Supreme Court of India, the day the court shall reopen allowing the petitioners to argue the case in-person before the court.
He expressed shock on the present situation that has emerged today and the residents of the state are passing through a miserable plight. He also appealed to all the political parties in J&K to join the movement with all other political parties including Panthers Party for the restoration of democracy, with fresh election to the Assembly and bring bureaucratic role to an end so that Chapter-III of the Constitution of India relating to fundamental rights shall be restored and anarchy shall come to an end. Democracy is the need of the hour with an immediate closure of Union Territory so that democratic government returns without any delay. Bureaucratic dictatorship shall not be digested anymore. J&K needs democracy and rule of law at the earliest.
