Three drug peddlers arrested in Ganderbal, Bandipora
Srinagar, Jan 27 : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Bandipora police as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that two drug peddlers were arrested and huge quantity of psychotropic substances recovered from their possession.
“Based on specific information, a police party of Police Station Bandipora headed by SHO PS Bandipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Bandipora established a checkpoint near Madar chowk and intercepted two suspected individuals,” police said.
They have been identified as Abdul Lateef resident of Gamroo and Athar Rasool resident of Nowpora Bandipora. “During checking, officers were able to recover 550 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon and 300 tablets of Alprazolam from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said a case under FIR number 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bandipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Meanwhile, Police in Ganderbal arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“Based on specific information, a police party of Police Station Safapora headed by SHO PS Safapora established a checkpoint at Mirabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK15-3597 with one person on board,” police said.
He has been identified as Bilal Ahmed Sheikh resident of Markundal Hajin. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.5Kgs of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 02/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safapora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” police said—(KNO)
