Pick and pocket gang busted by Sopore Police, three arrested, stolen property recovered

Sopore, Feb 08: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a pick and pocket gang in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com- KDC Sopore Police said that “There has been a continuous report of pick pocketing/theft at crowded places of main town Sopore since past couple of days. In this regard police station Sopore has registered two different FIR’S and during the course of investigation of cases FIR NO 32/2021 U/S 379 IPC and case FIR NO 33/2021 U/S 379 IPC were registered.

They said that three suspected namely Nisar Ahmad Mathanji, son of Abdul Subhan Mathanji, resident of Ishhtangoo Bandipora, Danish Manzoor Ganie, Son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, resident of Putkha Muqaaam, and Waseem Ahmad Sofi son of Abdul Gani Sofi resident of Seer Jagir Sopore were picked up for questioning and during sustained interrogation they confessed about the crime which lead to the recovery of stolen property.”

“It is pertinent to mention that one among them Namely Nisar Ahmad Mathanji, Son ofAbdul Subhan Mathanji, resident of Ishtangoo Bandipora has been arrested previously for the commission of theft /burglary, ” the statement said.

The general public and civil society members of Sopore have hailed the efforts of Sopore Police in solving the pick pocketing cases, reads the statement. (KDC)
