32nd Road Safety Month 2021; MVD organizes culmination function at Kupwara

KUPWARA, FEBURARY 19: Motor Vehicle Department, Kupwara today organized a culmination function of month long 32nd Road Safety Month 2021, here. Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara Imam Din was the chief Guest of the function.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of holding month long awareness with the slogan SADAK SURAKHA JEEVAN RAKSHA. He said district Administration is doing all possible efforts to ensure road safety measures in the district but these efforts could only be fruitful when people cooperate properly and obey the traffic rules in letter and spirit. He urged upon the general public, especially youth to strictly follow the traffic rules and ensure their safety when they are on roads. He directed ARTO to continue with holding awareness programmes across the district, especially in far off and border areas of the district.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed awards among the best performers , participated in the month long awareness campaign. District Information Officer Kupwara, Mohammad Yousuf Mir was also given tropy for managing best media coverage of the 32 Road Safety Month.
Earlier, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Mohammad Mukhtar Sofi highlighted the basic principles of road safety and informed that during month long campaign the Motor Vehicle Department, Kupwara has organized number of programs to spread the awareness regarding road safety among general public, driver community and transporters.
He said 15 different events have been organized at various places of the district, including medical check up of drivers, painting competition, quiz competition, distribution of pamphlets and print material, blood donation camp, fitness mela, walkathon and general awareness programs across the district.
The students of Little Angels public School Kupwara presented a song highlighting benefits of road safety.
The live streaming of LG’s speech from Gulshan Ground Jammu was also the part of the function.
