Srinagar, Mar 17: The Persian Scholars on Thursday staged a protest in Srinagar’s Press enclave and demanded revival and introducing of Persian subject in schools, colleges and universities.
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com- (KDC) while protesting in press enclave they said “The Persian language has remained not only the court language of communications in Kashmir for 600 years but the medium of promotion of scholarship in different disciplines of knowledge. The Persian has been instrumental in promoting communal harmony, brotherhood, tolerance and accommodation among different faiths in Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
Dr. Mudasir according to news agency KDC said “The Higher Education Department excluded the Persian in the list of Assistant Professors posts referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) which openly shows the motivated intentions of some quarters to extinct Persian from the Sufi loving people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Had our youth at higher secondary and college levels been acquainted with Persian, there would have been no disruption of peace and harmony in the region as Persian literature only promotes the Sufi ideal of love, peace and equality”, said Dr Muzamil.
The scholars have demanded the intervention of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and urged him to take serious initiatives to refer the posts of Assistant Professors to the Public Service Commission and take all the necessary measures to start the Persian Language in Schools, Colleges and all Universities.
