Notorious drug peddler held in Central Kashmir

Crackdown against drugs will continue: Police

Srinagar, Mar 18: Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday claimed to have arrested a notorious drug peddler involved in illicit trade of drugs and recovered a good quantity of banned drugs from his possession.

A senior police official told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that on receipt of a credible information that a person identified as Mehraj U Din Shah son of late Gh Hassan Shah, a resident of Nowhar Chrar-i-sharief area of the district, has been indulging in illicit trade of drugs and has dumped a huge quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substance in his residential house.

He said, a case under FIR No.8/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in police station Charari Sharief and accordingly a raid was conducted by police at the house of the accused in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class Chararisharief.

“During raid 900 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. On further enquiry it was found that the accused is a notorious drug peddler and has been smuggling drugs and distributing it among gullible masses in return of hefty profit. The accused person has been arrested and investigation of the case is going on,” he said.

The official further said that crackdown on drug peddlers will continue in the district, adding that whosoever found involved in the mischievous act will be brought to book. (KDC)
